English drummer Richard John Cyril Allen is well-known for his work with the well-liked hard rock band Def Leppard. Since he joined Def Leppard in 1978, Allen has been a crucial member of the group and has made a sizable contribution to their success.
Allen lost his left arm as a result of an automobile accident he experienced in 1985. Allen, despite this horrible event, vowed not to let it stop him from playing the drums with Def Leppard. He started employing custom-made wire routing by Whirlwind and adopted an electronic drum kit that was created especially for him.
The band took a break from live shows until 1986 when Allen was able to make a comeback at the Monsters of Rock festival after a difficult road to recovery. Since then, depending on the situation, Allen has returned to using partially acoustic drum kits. He plays the instruments he used to play with his left arm using four electronic pedals on his left foot.
