Thich Nhat Hanh was a Vietnamese monk, peace activist and the founder of the Plum Village Tradition. Thich Nhat Hanh was also known as Nguyễn Xuân Bảo and he was an alumnus of Linji school.

Thich Nhat Hanh was a staunch member of Thiền Buddhism and he has his lineage from the 42nd generation of Lam Te and the 8th generation of Lieu Quan. Thich Nhat Hanh was awarded the Courage of Conscience award in 1991. and he also bagged the 2015 Pacem in Terris Peace and Freedom Award 2015.
