Orville Richard Burrell better known by the stage name Shaggy is a Jamaican-American reggae musician, DJ and actor. He was born on October 22, 1968, in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1987, Shaggy participated in singing lessons and was discovered a year later while singing in the streets with his friends.
Shaggy enrolled in the United States Marine Corps in 1988 and obtained the MOS of 0811(Field Artillery Cannon Crewman). The highest rank he achieved was lance corporal, although he was reduced in rank twice. Shaggy perfected his signature singing voice while he was in the Marine Corps.
Shaggy decided to pursue his music career and his first hit in 1993, Oh Caroline. He released many songs which made him rise to fame in the industry. In November 2019, Shaggy collaborated with Indian singer, Mika Singh on the latter’s track, Belly ring.
