Amid an investigation into Princess Diana’s interview, Martin Bashir has stepped down from his role as the BBC’s religion editor owing to ongoing health issues.
Martin Bashir is an English journalist who has worked for BBC, MSNC, and MSNBC.
He rose to prominence after his 1995 interview with Princess Diana.

Martin Bashir Illness And Health Update
Martin Bashir was diagnosed with COVID-19 in 2020.
The 58-year-old journalist was seriously unwell following the diagnosis and was admitted to the hospital.
Due to coronavirus, there arose several complications in his health, and he had to undergo quadruple bypass surgery.
According to BBC, he underwent major surgery last year, but he is once again facing some issues with his health.
Due to this reason, Bashir decided to quit the corporation so that he could focus on his health.
However, as the announcement came amidst an ongoing investigation over Princess Diana’s 1995 interview, many suspected if the investigation was the reason for his resignation.
But, official sources maintain that that is not the case. Bashir has been on sick leave for several months.
