Bracker taught physical education to children in Omaha, Nebraska, and Casper, Wyoming before becoming an assistant coach for Northern Colorado’s women’s basketball team in the late 1960s. Bracker turned down a field hockey coaching position at Iowa State in 1970 to coach women’s basketball at Midland University.

From the 1980s to the 2000s, Bracker led the Midland Warriors to multiple NAIA Women’s Basketball Championships in Division I and Division II. Their best performance during this time period was a fourth-place finish in the 1985 Division I championship.
