The 34-year-old Clifton resident was found guilty of 13 charges, including participating in a jewel heist plot to steal a £3.5 million tiara from a Nottinghamshire gallery.
Ashley Cole told police he thought he would die after intruders smashed their way into his Surrey home with a sledgehammer on January 21, 2020.
“I waited either to be killed or never to see my kids again,” Mr. Cole told the court.
Jurors at the Nottingham Crown Court trial heard Cole and his partner, Sharon Canu, were bound by black cable ties.
The court heard that watches, cellphones, cash, a Gucci bag, headphones, and a BMW smart key were all stolen during the break-in.
Prosecutor Michael Brady QC stated in opening the case against Dilks, “During the evening of Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Ms. Canu was at home with their two young children.”
Mr. Cole returned home around 9.30 p.m. They went upstairs to watch a movie when the incident happened.
