Joe Gibbs is an American auto racing team owner and former professional football coach.

Gibbs spent many seasons as the head coach of the National Football League’s (NFL) Washington Redskins.

Over the course of 12 seasons, he steered his team to four NFC Championship victories and three Super Bowl victories.

Gibbs is one of the finest coaches in NFL history, and the only head coach to have won a Super Bowl.

Joe Gibbs Life And Career

Born on November 25, 1940, in Mocksville, North Carolina, Gibbs played quarterback as a student in Santa Fe High School and San Diego State University.

His coaching career saw him coach various teams both as an offensive line coordinator and a running backs coach at San Diego, State Florida State, USC, Arkansas, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, and Washington Redskins.

In 1992, Gibbs announced his retirement and shifted his attention to NASCAR.

He founded the team Joe Gibbs Racing, which has since won five NASCAR Cup Series titles.

The Redskins hired Gibbs back as their head coach in 2004, and he remained with them until the end of the 2007 season, when he announced his retirement for the second time.
