DJ Gasso is the assistant softball coach at the University of Utah. He joined the staff in June 2020 after working as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma for the past two seasons.
During his two seasons on the staff, the Sooners finished as national runners-up in 2019 and were rated fourth in the country when the 2020 season was cancelled.
In his debut season with the Utah programme in 2021, Gasso made an immediate impression. The Utes hit 46 home runs, their most since 2012 (53), and scored 237 runs, their highest since 2017.
Haley Denning led the Pac-12 in hits (75) and stolen bases (31), placing seventh and eleventh nationally in those two categories, respectively.
Gasso obtained his bachelor’s degree in communication in 2017 from Bradley University, where he was a great baseball player for two seasons (2016, ’17) after one year at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.
