Nimrata Nikki Haley is an American diplomat and politician.

She was born on January 20, 1972, in Bamberg, South Carolina, the United States to Ajit Singh Randhawa, and Raj Kaur Randhawa.

Haley’s parents moved to Canada after her father received a scholarship offer from the University of British Columbia.

After she graduated from Clemson University, Haley worked for FCR Corporation, waste management, and recycling company, before joining her family’s clothing business as its bookkeeper and chief financial officer.

Haley married Michael Haley in 1996. She later became active in civic affairs. In 1998, she was named to the board of directors of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce.
