At the age of 21, Bob Harte gave up his college education to pursue his passion. He later moved to Alaska, a sparsely populated US state in northwestern Canada, where he led his own life in the wilderness.

He went to Alaska because he wanted to have a first-hand experience of all the things he had read about the city in books. When he got there his idea of ​​the place matched what he saw and he decided to settle there and even after raising a family he brought them over.
